Karamo Brown
Culture expert on the Emmy-winning Netflix show Queer Eye and Author
Karamo Brown is the culture expert in the Netflix revival of Queer Eye, joining Bobby Berk, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, and Jonathan Van Ness to form the Fab Five. Queer Eye premiered this past February, and won three Emmy awards in 2018.
Karamo launched his career in 2004 on the MTV reality show The Real World: Philadelphia, becoming the first out gay black man on reality TV. He worked as a social worker for nearly a decade after The Real World, and it’s this professional experience that most shapes his role on Queer Eye. As he puts it in the new Queer Eye book Love Yourself, Love Your Life: “I wanted to have deeper conversations with people so that they could have the hard conversations with themselves.”
